PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Chris Crosby scored 33 points, including seven in
overtime, to lead Washington State to a 81-78 overtime victory over California
Saturday.
Mike Bush and Eddie Miller scored 19 points apiece for the Cougars (6-18,
1-14 Pac-10).
The victory ended a 15-game losing streak for WSU. It was the first win for
the Cougars since they defeated Portland St. on Dec. 20.
Shantay Legans scored 20 points for the Bears (15-11, 6-8). Lampley added
14.
After trailing 38-33 at halftime, California opened the second half with a
17-2 run to go up 50-40 with 12:54 remaining.
Washington State came from behind to send the game into overtime when Bush
made a free throw with 5 seconds remaining.
Lampley gave the Bears the early lead in overtime with a basket. The Cougars
then scored the next six points, including a 3-pointer by Crosby, to go up
76-72 with 1:36 remaining. Washington State hit all five of its free throws
down the stretch to seal the victory.
