Leah Pearman

Leah Pearman joined WSU Athletics in August 2025 and serves as an Assistant Coach for the WSU Women’s Rowing team and the lead coach of the Developmental & Walk-On squad.

In this role, she coaches developing athletes and serves as the point of contact for out-of-sport athletes looking to become Division 1 rowers.
Prior to her role at WSU, Leah worked with Oklahoma Athletics beginning in August 2021 and served as the Rowing Assistant Coach & Director of Operations from June 2023 through July 2025. In this role, she organized team events, coordinated team travel, alumni outreach & events, coached the novice/walk-on team and oversaw compliance issues.

Prior to her role as the Assistant Coach & Director of Operations, she served as a Graduate Assistant Rowing Coach & Interim Director of Operations from August 2022 to May 2023. In that role, she coached the novice/walk-on team and assisted with administrative tasks including travel and data entry.

Prior to her role as the Graduate Assistant Rowing Coach, she served as a Graduate Research Assistant from August 2021 to August 2022 while also serving as a Volunteer Rowing Coach assisting with coaching novice/walk-on team. In her research role, she created a sustainability map for Monarch habitat in Oklahoma, working with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, utilizing GIS in conjunction with programming in R.

Pearman earned two bachelor's degrees from the University of Oklahoma – one in International Security Studies, with a minor in Islamic Studies & Arabic, and another in Environmental Sustainability with an emphasis in science and resources. She holds a graduate certificate from OU in Geographic Information Science, and is progressing toward a master’s Degree in Spatial Ecology.

Pearman began rowing for the University of Oklahoma as a walk-on in 2018 and remained on the team through the end of her eligibility in 2021. She hails from rural, central Texas, where her family runs a Corriente cattle ranch. She still remains very involved in the ranch and enjoys going home during the holidays to ride horses and help with ranch work. She also enjoys long distance backpacking, especially at the Olympic National Park and on Appalachian Trail.
