Robb Akey

BORN: July 24, 1966 (33), Colorado Springs, Colo.

HOMETOWN: Colorado Springs, Colo.

HIGH SCHOOL: Wasson High, 1984 - football, TE/WR; junior and senior year state playoffs...All-South Central League first team as receiver senior year...led the team in receiving...basketball...team captain and all-league pick...played in the All-State game...baseball...first baseman with all-league honors...played in the All-State game.

COLLEGE: Weber State University, 1988 - Played tight end, outside linebacker and defensive end during his four-year career...coached by current Cougar head coach Mike Price...in 1987 Weber State shared the Big Sky Conference title and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Div. I-AA playoffs, finishing 12-2...12 victories the most ever by the Wildcats...finished career as the Wildcat leader in sacks and was named to the All-Big Sky first team as a senior in 1987..also received honorable mention All-America honors senior year.

COACHING EXPERIENCE:

Weber State, 1988-94 - Started as an assistant defensive line coach for one season, then promoted to defensive line coach...also served as recruiting coordinator, 1990-93...special teams coordinator, 1994...head coach Dave Arslanian...team reached the NCAA Div. I-AA playoffs in 1991.

Northern Arizona, 1995-1998 - Started as special teams coordinator and linebacker coach, then promoted to defensive coordinator in 1996...team participated in the NCAA Div. I-AA playoffs in 1996...head coach Steve Axman (1995-97) and Jerome Souers (1998).
