Attended Poly Technic High, where he was coached by Fred Cuccia and Tim Felley...earned three varsity letters in football...also lettered in track and baseball...during JUNIOR season caught 42 passes for 649 yards and four touchdowns...broke a punt return 70 yards for a score...all-conference second team...as a SENIOR named to the all-conference first team as a wide receiver...led the city in receiving yards with over 1,600...played in the CIF vs. City all-star game...an all-area second team pick...won conference long jump title at 22-1.

Freshman (1996-97): Named team's top offensive newcomer.
Sophomore (1997-98): Caught 70 passes in 10 games for 899 yards and four touchdowns, ranking fifth in the state...returned a punt 83 yards for a touchdown against Bakersfield.
HACKETT'S WSU CAREER
Junior (1998-99): V-letter...played in 10 of 11 Cougar games, starting all 10...missed the game at Stanford with a concussion...led the Cougars with 54 receptions for 580 yards and four touchdowns...caught a season-high 11 passes against Oregon for 97 yards...hauled in four passes for 139 yards at California, where he also pulled in a 75-yard touchdown toss...had 103 receiving yards with eight catches at Arizona...also had TD receptions at Boise State, against Arizona State and at Arizona...caught at least one pass in all 10 games...also returned five kickoffs for 102 yards, all at Arizona...ranked fourth in the Pac-10 with 5.40 receptions per game...his 11 receptions against Oregon the fifth best among Pac-10 players...earned the following game awards: Offensive Back - BSU; Pac-10 Offense - California, Arizona; Special Team Big Play - USC; Cougar Claw - Arizona.
