HOMETOWN: Indianapolis, Ind.
HIGH SCHOOL: Pike (Indiana) High, 1976 - Earned three varsity letters in
football for coach Howard Buckwalter...also two letters in baseball and
one
in basketball...named school's most valuable player senior year after
earning All-Marion County conference first team honors as a
fullback...also
an all-conference first team first baseman.
COLLEGE: Treasure Valley College, 1977-78 - Coached by Ron Kulm, earning
all-Northwest Community College Conference honors as a linebacker for two
years...named team's most valuable player as a freshman and sophomore.
Washington State University, 1979-82 - Coached by Jim Walden...as a JUNIOR
started six games while overcoming a series of injuries including a
pinched
neck nerve in the fourth game of the season, a broken wrist against
Arizona
State and then a season-ending knee injury near the end of the
year...still
made 39 tackles...in 1980 as a SENIOR, suffered a knee injury at Tennessee
and missed the rest of th year...returned for the 1981 season and was
voted
co-captain by his teammates...started all year, including WSU's first bowl
game in 50 years when the Cougars met BYU in the Holiday Bowl...finished
the season second in tackles with 108...led the team with 10 sacks...had
10
or more tackles six times, including a career high against both ASU and
Colorado...three of his sacks came at Colorado...received the J. Fred
Bohler Award for inspiration following senior year.
COACHING EXPERIENCE: Washington State University, 1995-Present - Named an
assistant coach in the spring of 1997 after serving as a graduate
assistant
for two years.
PROFESSIONAL: Hamilton TigerCats (CFL), 1982-90 - Spent nine seasons with
Hamilton after signing a free agent contract prior to the 1982
season...named to the CFL All-Star team in 1987-88-89 and was a four-time
All-Eastern Conference pick, 1986-87-88-89...played in three Grey Cup
championships, three with Hamilton...had two career interceptions and
seven
fumble returns for 34 yards...also scored a pair of touchdowns...credited
with 90.5 career sacks, 81.5 of them with Hamilton...had 21 sacks in 1986
and 17 the following season.
Edmonton Eskimos (CFL), 1991 - Closed out his 10-year professional career
with Edmonton...member of the Eskimos' 1990 Grey Cup team...finished
career
playing in 126 CFL games.
