WSU CAREER. SOPHOMORE (2002-03): Finished sixth in the javelin at the NCAA West Regional (5/31/03, Stanford) with a lifetime-best throw of 155-feet, 8 inches (47.45m), missing fifth place and a trip to the NCAA Championships by a mere two inches…mark is second-best in school records.

FRESHMAN (2001-02): Threw PR of 45.98m/150-10 and won the javelin at Idaho-WSU dual meet (4/13/02, Pullman)…missed scoring at Pac-10 Championships with ninth place throw of 42.97m/141-0 (5/19/02, Pullman).

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER. At Mt. Spokane High received nine varsity letters, three each in volleyball, basketball and track…captain of track and basketball teams senior year…as a senior, won Cougar Invitational and set record for javelin at 141-2…was third at state with a throw of 140-5…javelin PR is 141-8……junior year, fifth at regional meet with 127-5 throw.

PERSONAL. Born 1/25/83 in Spokane, Washington, to Steve and Debbie Bertholf (pronounced birth-off)…twin sister Kim (400m runner at Pacific Lutheran University)…brother Chris, finished seventh in intermediate hurdles at the NCAA Div. III while at PLU in 2002…father graduated from WSU in 1974…earned a 4.0 GPA and was class Valedictorian at Mt. Spokane…National Honors Society Treasurer…majoring in marketing at WSU.
