FRESHMAN (1998-99): Indoor - Threw shot put a collegiate-best 13.42m/44-0 1/2i for 19th at the Husker Invitational (2/5/99, Lincoln)...placed 22nd in shot at Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships...Outdoor - Tossed WSU freshman school record in the discus with a 57.52m/188-8 NCAA AQ at the Palouse Team Invitational (5/1/99, Pullman)...finished fourth in discus at Pac-10 Championships with mark of 52.62m/172-8 (5/22/99, Tempe)...participated discus at NCAA Championships but did not place.
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Earned seven varsity letters at Mount Si High School running cross country and as a thrower on the track team for coach David Clifford...as a FRESHMAN letters in cross country...placed seventh in the state championships in the discus with 119-3 best mark...in summer threw discus 127-7, fourth-best freshman throw in state history...SOPHOMORE year lettered in cross country...undefeated in discus during spring...state discus champ at 144-6...that summer threw 148-4, second-best sophomore throw in state history...during her JUNIOR year, lettered again in cross country...repeated as state discus champ at 150-7...third at state meet in javelin (126-7) and fourth in shot put...scored 21 points for Mount Si as Wildcats won state team title...that summer placed third at Golden West Invitational meet with 157-0 discus mark, fifth-best prep throw and top throw for junior in state history...SENIOR year won third state discus title and set meet record with 173-1 throw...also second in state shot put at 39-6, and third in state javelin at 139-6...was undefeated in competition in 1998...ended summer as top prep discus thrower and an All-American...threw 182-0 in summer competition that included winning at Golden West Invite, National Scholastic, and USATF Juniors competition...throw at U.S. Juniors Championships was 54.30m/178-2...finished eighth at World Juniors in Annecy, France, at 49.97m/163-11...13th-best shot put mark (46-4 1/2) nationally...finished fourth in Track & Field News Women's High School Athlete of the Year voting.
