The Cougars taught fundamentals to 75 kids Saturday.
An important part of the Washington State University men's basketball program for the past five years, Mike Simonson enters his second season as a full-time staff member with the Cougars in 2012-13, serving as the coordinator of basketball operations.
At WSU Simonson is responsible for all aspects of video, including filming practices and games, film exchange, video scouting reports and producing team videos. Simonson will also assist with the coordination of recruiting, including organizing the recruiting data base, assisting with mail-outs and coordinating recruiting visits.
Simonson spent the previous four seasons as a student manager at Washington State and the final three as one of two head managers. His duties with the Cougars included preparation of scouting reports, video coordination, film exchange and assisting with the team's recruiting software, as well as day-to-day tasks around the office, at practice and during games. He has also worked at WSU's summer basketball camps.
A native of Edmonds, Wash., Simonson received his bachelor of arts in social sciences with an emphasis on history from Washington State in the spring of 2011. He graduated from Meadowdale high school in 2006, where he played basketball, football and golf.
