Cougar Football Spring Practice Recap, Day 4

March 28, 2013

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State football practices in helmets and shoulder pads for just over two hours Thursday afternoon in Martin Stadium.

The Cougars practiced under the sunshine and worked individual drills, 7-vs.-7, punt coverage before finishing up with two long scripted drives of 11-vs.-11.

Wideout Gabe Marks highlighted the 7-vs-7 segment with a couple nice catches, diving to catch a deflected pass in traffic and later beating his defender to the ball thrown towards the right corner.

In 11-vs.-11, cornerback Damante Horton lept high to break up a pass intended for Isiah Myers, causing the defense to erupt after seeing the Horton turn in the acrobatic play. Connor Halliday completed a pass to wideout Dominique Williams in traffic and later capped his day with touchdown passes to Myers and Bobby Ratliff.

During quarterback Austin Apodaca's drive, linebacker Darryl Monroe caused the defense to erupt again with a big pop on a running back who was attempting to catch a pass out of the backfield. Apodaca later completed a couple passes to newcomer wide receiver Robert Lewis for big gains before connecting with Marks deep down the field for a big play.

The Cougars continue spring practice Saturday at 10 a.m. at Rogers Field and Martin Stadium.
