Daniel Selected to Academic All-American Team
Men's basketball standout receives third team honors.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State junior Carlos Daniel was
named to the GTE Academic All-America men's basketball third
team Wednesday.
Daniel (Louisville, Colo.), a history major with a 3.52 grade point
average, is just the second Washington State men's basketball
player ever to earn GTE Academic All-America recognition. He
joins Brian Quinnett (1985-89), who was a first team pick in 1989.
Daniel put together his finest season for the 13-17 Cougars. He
was second in the Pacific-10 Conference in rebounding (8.3 per
game average), tenth in scoring (15.2), fifth in blocked shots (1.6)
and seventh in field goal percentage (.519).
Kansas senior Jacque Vaughn, a business administration major
(3.72 GPA), was named the GTE Academic All-American of the
Year.
The GTE Academic All-America teams are selected by members of
the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
