WSU Track Trio Travels to NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Three Washington State track student-athletes qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division-I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 10-13, at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. Rosemary Longisa will compete in the 1500-meter run national semifinals, and Caroline Jepkorir will compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Evans Kurui will represent the men and run in the national championship for the 10,000- and 5,000-meter events.

Kurui will open competition for the Cougs in the 10-kilometer national championship, Wednesday, June 10. The sophomore clocked a qualifying time of 28:45.60 at May's NCAA West First Rounds, claiming third in the national semifinal. The Kenyan will compete in college track's longest national championship at 7:56 p.m. PT with coverage on ESPN and ESPN2.

The Cougar women's duo of Longisa and Jepkorir will take to the track, Thursday, June 11 for national semifinal events. The day's events will be televised live on ESPN2.

Longisa enters this week's championship as the country's fastest 1,500-meter runner and proved it with back-to-back first-place finishes at the West First Rounds in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Longisa will race at 5:21 p.m., looking for a top-five finish or one of the next two best times to qualify for Saturday's final.

Jepkorir will follow Longisa with a 5:38 p.m. in the 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinals. The sophomore Kenyan snagged qualification with a 10:10.15 at the West First Rounds, 11th overall in the steeplechase quarterfinals. Jepkorir will advance to Saturday's championship with a top-five finish from her heat or one of the next two best times.

Kurui returns to Hayward Field, Friday, June 12 to compete in the 5,000-meter national championship at 6:55 p.m. and live on ESPN2. At last month's semifinal, Kurui clinched his spot with a 3rd-place finish and a personal-best time of 13:41.96 in the 5-kilometer run.

The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships conclude Saturday, June 13 in Eugene. The women's 1,500-meter national championship begins at 5:12 p.m., followed by the steeplechase final at 5:24 p.m. with Longisa and Jepkorir hoping to clinch Saturday spots, Thursday evening.
