CHANDLER, Ariz. (Sept. 8, 2026) – The Washington State men’s golf team closed out its 2026-2027 season opener Tuesday at Whirlwind Golf Club, climbing two spots on the final day to finish 10th at the Bombs Darts Birds Collegiate. The Cougars carded an 18-under 270 in the final round to finish the tournament at 30-under par (834).
Returning sophomore Dylan Boenning led Washington State in the final round, firing a 6-under 66 to finish tied for 11th at 11-under par (205). The Arizona native recorded six birdies during his final round and finished the tournament with 16 birdies, including seven in Monday’s opening round.
Junior returner Dylan Burcham followed with a 4-under 68 Tuesday to finish tied for 17th at 10-under (206). Burcham recorded four birdies in his final round and finished the tournament with 12 birdies.
Redshirt-senior Ben Borgida closed with a 3-under 69 to finish tied for 39th at 5-under (211). After opening the tournament with a 1-over 73 Monday, Borgida posted consecutive rounds under par, including an eagle on the 12th hole during Monday’s second round.
Junior Garrett Harrison carded a 5-under 67 in the final round, finishing tied for 45th at 4-under (212). Harrison recorded five birdies Tuesday, including four on the front nine, to move up 23 spots on the individual leaderboard during the final round.
Sophomore Christian Flick finished the tournament at 3-over par (219) and tied for 76th. Senior Ben Mulder, competing as an individual, also finished tied for 76th at 3-over (219).
Washington State’s 18-under final round was highlighted by all four counting scores finishing at 4-under or better, helping the Cougars move from 12th to 10th in the final team standings.
Santa Clara won the team title at 50-under par, while Jake Lile of Arkansas State claimed the individual title.
The Cougars return to action September 21-22 in Coeur d'Alene at the Eastern Washington Collegiate at the Coeur d'Alene National Golf Club.
