SAN MATEO, Calif. (April 7, 2026) – Following her three-set, come-from-behind win over Gonzaga, Washington State redshirt-junior Yura Nakagawa has been named the West Coast Conference's Women's Singles Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Last Saturday against Gonzaga, with the Cougars having only five players due to injury, recorded her biggest win of the season, rallying from a set down to defeat Elizabeth Tindera. Nakagawa, who was down 4-6, 0-4, strung together six-straight games to force a third set. There, she rode an early break of serve to a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win, providing the margin of victory in WSU's 4-3 defeat of the Bulldogs. The win was the sixth-straight for WSU.
This marks the first WCC Singles Player of the Week honor for Nakagawa.
