Cougars Open Play at ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. (Sept. 20, 2025) – Washington State Tennis dropped all three singles matches in the opening round at the 2025 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) All-American Championships prequalifying draw, Saturday at Cary Tennis Park.
 
Redshirt-senior Maxine Murphy started fast against Duke's Claire An, winning the first set 6-3. An picked up a break in the second to take that set, 6-3, before closing out a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Murphy. Harvard's Charlotte Owensby posted a 6-1, 6-2 win over WSU's Yura Nakagawa, who was playing her first competitive match since suffering a season-ending injury last October.
 
Senior Eva Alvarez Sande never got going as she dropped a 6-3, 6-1 contest to UCLA's Olivia Center.
 
All three Cougars will compete in the consolation round Sunday.
