PULLMAN, Wash. (Sept. 10, 2025) – Washington State University shot a three-round team score of -45, 807, the lowest three-round score in school history as it captured a six-stroke victory over Santa Clara Wednesday to at the Palouse Collegiate, played at the par-71, 7,302-yard Palouse Ridge Golf Club. Sophomore
Dylan Burcham captured his first collegiate title as he finished at 15-under, 198, for a one-stroke victory to take medalist honors.
Riding the momentum of a 16-under, 268, during the second round, the Cougars improved that by two strokes over the final round as four of the five golfers went under par, led by junior
Ben Mulder's 6-under, 65, as the Cougars finished six shots ahead of first-round leader Santa Clara, and 17 shots in front of both Pacific and Colorado.
This marked the first tournament win for the Cougars since the season-ending National golf Invitational title in 2024. It also marked the sixth tournament win under head coach
Dustin White, tying him for second all-time at WSU.
Individually, Burcham played on another level throughout the event, posting three-straight rounds of 5-under, 66, to take a one-stroke victory over second-round leader Calder Overfelt from Santa Clara. Burcham's three-round score of 198 (-15) was the second-lowest three-round score in school history. As he did in each round, Burcham was rock solid, carding seven birdies and nine pars over his final 18 holes. For the tournament, the sophomore led the field in birdies (19) as well as par-4 scoring (3.70).
Mulder, a transfer from Northwest Nazarene, led the Cougars with a 6-under, 65, on the final day, giving him a 54-hole score of 12-under, 201. Mulder's round included six birdies, an eagle and nine pars to move up six spots and finish alone in third place.
Senior
Sam Renner carded a five-under, 66, posting seven birdies on the day, for his lowest round of the tournament. Renner's three-round score of 10-under, 203, placed him in a tie for fifth.
Redshirt-junior
Ben Borgida played steady carding a two under, 69 with four birdies and only two bogeys over the final 18 holes day to finish with a 54-hole score of 7-under, 206, tied for 13th.. Sophomore
Garrett Harrison posted a two over, 73.
Three Cougars competed as individuals, freshman
Christian Flick carded a three-under, 68. The freshman posted rounds 75-68-68 in his first collegiate event and finished in a tie for 31st. Freshman
Dylan Boenning, posted back-to-back even par rounds in day one, but in the final round posted a two-under, 69, tying with teammate Flick for 31st overall at 2-under, 211.
Tate Bruggeman posted a four over, 75 and finished tied for 57th at 5-over, 218.
The Cougars are next in action Sept. 22-23 at The Tindall, hosted by Washington, at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
