WAZZU WELCOMES #13 GEORGIA
The Washington State women's soccer team concludes the weekend with a top-25 matchup against No. 13 Georgia, Sunday, August 31 at 1 p.m. at Lower Soccer Field.
THE COUGARS AND THE BULLDOGS
WSU and Georgia met for the first time in program history last season, with the Cougars falling to the Bulldogs, 1-4, in Athens, Georgia. Only four current Cougs on the 2025 roster played in last year's match, including
Maggie Mace,
Peyton Price,
Jenna Studer, and
Alena Watts. All four started against the Bulldogs in the Peach State.
LAST TIME ON THE PITCH
Wazzu traveled across the state line to Moscow, Idaho to face the Idaho Vandals, Thursday, August 28, extending their unbeaten streak in the Battle of the Palouse to 15-straight matches. Sophomore
Audrey Shackelford scored her first goal of her career, the equalizer in the 37th minute, as the Cougs tied the Vandals, 1-1, in their first road game.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
The Cougs will return home to host No. 13 Georgia at Lower Soccer Field, Sunday, in Pullman. WSU traveled to Athens last year to face the Bulldogs in the programs' first meeting. Former WSU coach and current Georgia head coach Keidane McAlpine makes his return to Pullman for the first time since 2018 with the USC Trojans.
OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAINS
WSU's senior trio of

LOOKING AHEAD
WSU will return to the road next week, traveling to California to face the Golden Bears, Thursday, September 4, at 3 p.m. in Berkeley. The Cougars and Bears met regularly as conference foes in the Pac-12. Thursday's match marks the first meeting since October 13, 2023, when WSU tied Cal, 1-1 in the programs' first meeting as nonconference opponents. All-time the Cougs are 3-11-3 at Edwards Field.
2025 ROSTER RELOAD
The Cougars welcomed 20 new faces, including six transfers and 14 freshmen. WSU retained 10 returnees, including four returning starters, two additional letterwinners, and four redshirts. In the season opener against Utah State, 11 Cougs made their WSU debuts, including seven in the starting lineup.
Keara Fitzgerald,
Ava Ghoreishi,

NEW NETMINDERS
