PULLMAN, Wash. (April 19, 2025) – Washington State closed its series with Nevada with a 13-1 run-rule win in seven innings at Bailey-Brayton Field Saturday afternoon.

All nine Cougar starters recorded hits including five who tallied two-hit games.
Logan Johnstone scored three runs and hit his team-leading eighth home run,
Will Cresswell drove in four runs and
Ollie Obenour drove in three to support starter
Luke Meyers who fired six scoreless frames to earn the win.

WSU scored three in the first inning to back Meyers before scoring in the final four innings including four in the fourth and three in the fifth. Nevada scored its lone run in the seventh inning.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
WSU jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning after a sacrifice fly to centerfield from Cresswell,
Ryan Skjonsby scored on a wild pitch and Obenour made it 3-0 with an RBI-single up the middle.

The Cougars added two more runs in the third as Johnstone lined a 1-0 pitch to right field for a solo shot and
Ricco Longo made it 4-0 with a two-out RBI-double to left-centerfield later in the inning. An inning later, Cresswell lined a two-run single the opposite way to right field and Obenour pulled a two-run double down the left field line for a 9-0 Cougar lead.

Meyers stranded a pair of runners in the fifth with an inning-ending strikeout before Skjonsby punched a two-run single through the left side during a three-run Cougar fifth.

Northrop pulled an RBI-double down the left field line in the sixth inning.
