Two School Records Fall, Cougs Add Three Medals on Day 3

HOUSTON (February 21, 2025) – Washington State Swimming added two more school records and three medals on date three of the Mountain West Conference Championships in Houston Friday.

The Cougars set school records in the 200 free relay and sophomore Ariel Wang broke the school record in the 400 IM while the 200 free relay team finished second, junior Emily Lundgren placed third in the 100 fly and Wang took silver in the 400 IM.

In the morning prelims, freshman Ashlyn Hernandez posted a 1:01.48 in the 100 breast, good to make the evening finals and is the fifth-fastest time in program history.

The 200 free relay team opened the evening session taking silver with a school-record 1:29.70 by Darcy Revitt, Emily Lundgren, Addyson Lewis and Emma Wright. The following event saw Lundgren earn a spot on the 100 fly podium with a 52.83, also good for an NCAA B cut.

Wang followed with a school-record in the 400 IM after posting a 4:13.88 to take silver and also earn an NCAA B cut. Later in the evening, junior Anna Rauchholz earned an NCAA B cut with a 53.52 in the 100 back, trialing only her own school record for the second-fastest 100 back time in program history.

Through 14 events, WSU sits in fifth with four event titles and trails fourth-place Fresno State by 21 points.

Saturday's final day of competition will see prelims are set for 8:30 a.m. (PT), the 1650 free will have heats at 1:20 p.m. (PT) and 4 p.m. (PT) before the finals for the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay begin at 4:25 p.m. (PT).
