PULLMAN, Wash. (December 10, 2025) – Washington State women's basketball showed resiliency Wednesday night, erasing a double-digit deficit and pushing Eastern Washington to the final horn before falling 71-69 inside Beasley Coliseum.
The Cougars (1-9, 0-0 WCC) shot a solid 25-for-64 from the field and posted 15 assists, with three players scoring in double figures.
Charlotte Abraham was exceptional once again, pouring in 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting while adding four assists and six boards.
Eleonora Villa supplied 16 points and knocked down two threes, guiding WSU's offense through its most potent stretches.
Malia Ruud continued her strong debut season, delivering 13 points, five rebounds, and a pair of blocks.
After a slow first quarter, WSU settled in and steadily clawed back. The Cougars outscored EWU 42-26 across the second and third quarters, sparked by efficient guard play and timely defense that flipped the game's momentum.
WSU tightened its defense after halftime, holding Eastern Washington to just five field goals in the third quarter while forcing difficult shots at the rim. The effort produced a surge that cut EWU's once-comfortable lead to a single possession entering the fourth.
The Cougars tied the game multiple times in the final frame, but Eastern Washington's early cushion and a few key late baskets proved just enough to hold WSU off.
