PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State men's basketball freshman
Ace Glass was named the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week, Monday by the conference, after his record-setting performance at the 2025 Maui Invitational.
Glass, a true freshman, broke the WSU freshman single-game scoring record, scoring 40 points against Arizona State in the Maui Invitational semifinals. Glass became the first Cougar freshman to earn weekly conference honors since former Coug Reuben Chinyelu earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, February 26, 2024.
Glass became the sixth D-I player to eclipse 40 points in a single game this season and the first freshman to break 40 points. The Rialto, California native led the Maui field with 27.0 points per game, earning Maui Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Ranking 10th in the country in freshman scoring, Glass shot the ball at 57.5% in Maui, including 52.6% from beyond the arc, while finishing 25-of-27 at the free throw line over three games. Glass finished three points shy of breaking Adam Morrison's 2005 single-game scoring record at Maui (43), and 13 points shy of breaking Morrison's 20-year-old tournament scoring record.
Against the Sun Devils, Glass broke the previous freshman record set by Myles Rice with 35 points at Stanford, January 18, 2024 and finished with 16 free throws, the most by a Coug in 15 years, since Klay Thompson made 19 free throws, December 31, 2009.
Cougar fans can catch Glass and WSU in action Tuesday evening at Peoria, Illinois. WSU will take on Bradley at 5 p.m. PT (7 p.m. CT) from Carver Arena and live on ESPN+.
