CEDAR CITY, Utah. (November 8, 2025) – Washington State battled Saturday afternoon, but a late push from Southern Utah proved just enough as the Cougars fell 77-64.
Despite the final margin, the Cougars (0-3, 0-0 WCC) controlled long stretches of the game and as
Eleonora Villa poured in 21 points on an efficient 8-of-14 shooting. Villa was locked in from the perimeter, knocking down three triples and guiding the Cougar offense with a game-high 39 minutes.
Malia Ruud delivered her strongest collegiate performance to date, dominating early in the second half and finishing with 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Her presence inside fueled a 19-point third quarter for WSU as the Cougars erased a halftime deficit and briefly surged in front.
Charlotte Abraham anchored Washington State on the boards, collecting a team-high 10 rebounds to go with nine points, including a first-quarter three that helped the Cougars end the opening period down just two at 21-19. WSU continued to generate quality looks throughout the night, shooting 42 percent from the field with four players scoring at least seven points.
Washington State's bench also provided a lift, led by
Marta Alsina and
Mackenzie Chatfield, who combined for timely first-quarter scoring and defensive energy that kept the Cougars within striking distance.
