SANTA CLARA, Calif. – (November 26, 2025) – Washington State women's volleyball put together several stretches of sharp, resilient volleyball Wednesday night, but Santa Clara's hot offense proved the difference as the Cougars fell 3-0 (14-25, 22-25, 17-25) at the Leavey Center.
After a slow-opening frame, WSU (16-11, 10-7 WCC) responded, hitting .341 in the second as the Cougars pushed the Broncos deep into the frame. Washington State scored five-straight early behind kills from
Taryn Vrieling, Lucie Blažková, and
Camryn Lingenbrink, then later tied the set at 17-17 thanks to a momentum-swinging ace from
Kylie Wong.
Lingenbrink powered the offense with eight kills on .467 hitting to lead all Cougars and spark WSU's mid-match surge.
Melina Christodoulou also added eight kills while Vrieling pitched in seven kills, and Blažková posted five kills and teamed with
Livia Ward for three blocks to bolster the Cougar front line. Wong anchored the backcourt with 11 digs and Washington State's lone ace.
Ward steered the attack with 29 assists and 11 digs, helping WSU find its rhythm in the second and early in the third. Christodoulou,
Maddy Joswick, and Wong combined for extended defensive stands that kept rallies alive and forced Santa Clara into multiple long points.
WSU continued to push in the third, grabbing a 4-3 lead after a pair of Lingenbrink kills and another Vrieling put-away.
Eliana Ti'a provided an additional spark with four kills off the bench, while Christodoulou added her third-set scoring burst to keep the Cougars within reach.
