Cougars Tally Four More Wins, Finish Second at Hawkeye Invitational

IOWA CITY, Iowa (November 21, 2025) – Washington State Swimming closed out the final day of the Hawkeye Invitational with four more wins and four more school records to finish second out of the nine competing teams Friday.
 
The Cougars traded leads with Nebraska throughout the day before the Cornhuskers went up for good following the diving event while WSU does not have diving. Nebraska won the meet with 1,281.5 points with the Cougars close behind with 1,263.5 points. The rest of the field finished Iowa third, Illinois fourth, Kansas fifth, Miami (Florida) sixth, UConn seventh, Iowa State eighth and Northern Iowa ninth.
 
WSU saw junior Jade Castro win the 200 back with a school record, sophomore Darcy Revitt win the 100 free with a school record, meet record and Mountain West Conference record while senior Emily Lundgren won the 200 breast before the 400 free relay team won with another school record.
 
Revitt opened the day breaking her own school record with a Hawkeye Invite record 47.83 in the 100 free prelims. Junior Mehlika Yalcin closed the morning with an impressive swim in the 200 fly prelims, posting a 2:00.79 to improve her own WSU Top-10 time, good for eighth-best in program history.
 
The evening session started with the 1650 free where senior Lauren Wille placed second, sophomore Tatum Janning was fourth, freshman Avery Bulkley was 11th and freshman Vivien Nett was 12th. Castro followed with a school-record while winning the 200 back with a 1:55.66 with senior Anna Rauchholz finishing sixth, sophomore Ariel Wang finishing ninth and fellow sophomore Wiktoria Palicka coming in 12th.
 
Revitt put up another huge number while winning the 100 free final, breaking her own school record for the second time today while also breaking the Mountain West Conference record and Hawkeye Invite record with a 47.64. Freshman Barbora Mileisyte placed third in the same event with a 49.34, good for a WSU Top-10 time, the fifth-fastest time in program history while sophomore Issabelle Parrish finished tenth.
 
The Cougars claimed their third straight event as Lundgren won the 200 breast with a 2:08.32 and sophomore Ashlyn Hernandez posted a 2:12.45 in her second-place finish. In the 200 fly, Yalcin followed up her big morning placing eighth in the evening final while Wang notched her own WSU Top-10 time in the 200 fly with a 2:01.59, the ninth-fastest time in program history, and sophomore Sawyer Yahna finished 14th.
 
WSU closed out the day and meet in style as the 400 free relay of Wille, Lundgren, Mileisyte and Revitt won the event with a school-record 3:16.35. The Cougar 400 free "B" relay of Parrish, Skylar Brgoch, Addyson Lewis and Cecilia Ronnlund placed fifth.
 
A select group of Cougars will compete at the U.S. Open Championships in Austin, Texas Dec. 3-6 and the next team competition will be Jan. 23 at Northern Colorado.
