Nakagawa Gets Singles Victory at Battle for the Boot

FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 24, 2025) – Redshirt-junior Yura Nakagawa captured a three-set over Baylor to highlight Washington State Tennis' play Friday at the Battle for the Boot, hosted by Texas Christian University.
Nakagawa began her day with a comeback win over Baylor's Luna Ivkovic with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (1) victory, needing a third-set tiebreaker to pull out the victory. In the other singles match, sophomore Chisato Kanemaki dropped a break of serve each set and fell to Baylor's Alian Zack, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles play, the duo of Zack and Ivkovic posted a 6-3 win over Nakagawa and Kanemaki.
Play continues with singles and doubles action Saturday at the Battle for the Boot.
