LONG BEACH, Calif. (October 18, 2025) – Washington State Swimming posted a second-place finish at the 2025 MPSF Open Water Championships held on the coast of Long Beach, Calif. Saturday.
In the women's 5K, Hay led the way with a fourth-place finish after posting a 1:03.15, just two seconds off of the winner. Sophomore
Tatum Janning was sixth with a 1:03.39 and freshman
Vivien Nett was 12
th with a 1:03.57.
In the afternoon 2000-meter relay, freshman
Avery Bulkley, Hay, Janning and Nett finished second with a 25:55, just 43 one-hundreth's of a second behind the winners, Rice. WSU finished ahead of third-place Cal Baptist, fourth-place Fresno State and fifth-place BYU. There were 27 competing relay teams.
The Cougars host a pair of duals in two weekends, hosting Denver at 3 p.m. October 31 and Northern Arizona at 10 a.m. November 1.
