FOUR COUGS HEADED TO OPEN WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS IN LONG BEACH
Washington State swimmers Avery Bulkley, Sophie Hay, Tatum Janning and Vivien Nett are headed to Long Beach, Calif. for the 2025 MPSF Open Water Championships, all day Saturday. The women's 5K will be at 10:30 a.m. and the women's 2000-metter relay is set for a 2:15 p.m. start.

AVERY BUCKLEY NAMED MOUNTAIN WEST FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Washington State swimmer Avery Bulkley was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Bulkley had an impressive first collegiate meet, winning the 1650 free, finishing fourth in the 500 free and helped the 800 free relay to a second-place finish while the Cougars finished the meet in third place. The freshman from Payson, Utah won the 1650 free with a 17:05.35, good for a five second win and entered Tuesday with the 11th-fastest mile time in the country. Bulkley also helped the 800 free relay team to a second-place finish and placed fourth in the 500 free. Bulkley earns WSU's first conference honor of the season after Darcy Revitt earned the same recognition four times last season.

COUGS FINISH THIRD AT FRESNO STATE INVITE
Washington State tallied seven wins and finished at the season-opening Fresno State Invite, hosted by Fresno State University last weekend.

LUNDGREN NAMED MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE SWIMMER OF THE YEAR
Senior Emily Lundgren was named the Mountain West Conference Swimmer of the Year last season. The Chula Vista, Calif. native produced the best season in program history, earning a pair of All-America honors, winning a pair of Mountain West individual titles in the 200 IM and 200 breast and helped the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay times to conference titles. Lundgren, who was named the MWC Championships Swimmer of the Meet led the team with 23 individual wins during the season. Lundgren broke four school records in the 100 breast, 200 breast ,100 fly and 200 IM, was a part of three school relay records in the 200 free, 200 medley and 400 medley, and broke four WSU Gibb Pool records. Lundgren also earned two Mountain West Swimmer of the Week awards. Lundgren, who qualified for her third straight NCAA Championships, earned All-America Honorable Mention in the 100 breast and became WSU's first All-American after finishing sixth in the 200 breast in the NCAA Championships final, the best finish by any swimmer in program history.

THREE COUGS COMPETED AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN FEDERAL WAY
Three Washington State swimmers, juniors Emily Lundgren and Dori Hathazi along with freshman Darcy Revitt competed at the 2025 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Revitt competed in the 50 free and 100 free while Hathazi competed in the 200 fly, and Lundgren competed in the 200 IM, 100 breast and 200 breast. Revitt opened the prelims breaking her own school record with a 48.05 in the 100 free, good for No. 20 nationally and the third-fastest time by a freshman in the country. Hathazi posted a 1:55.33 in her 200 fly morning prelims, good for No. 25 nationally.

TWO-TIME ALL-AMERICAN EMILY LUNDGREN MAKES HISTORY
Emily Lundgren capped her record-setting week at the NCAA Swimming Championships earning her second All-America honor. Lundgren, who earned All-America Honorable Mention in the 100 Breast, won her 200 breast morning prelim with a school-record 2:06.83, the third-fastest time in the morning prelims. In the evening final, Lundgren posted a 2:06.18 to finish sixth nationally, the best finish by a Cougar in NCAA history after breaking her own school and Mountain West Conference record and became WSU's first All-American since 2000. Lundgren was the first Cougar to swim in an NCAA Final since Erin Eldridge in the 2000 where she finished eighth in the 100 breast. It was Lundgren's third All-America honor after earning honorable mention in the 200 breast in 2023-24 and honorable mention in the 100 breast in 2024-25.

TEN COUGARS, FOUR RELAYS EARN ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST HONORS
Ten Washington State Swimmers and four relay teams received All-Mountain West Conference honors last season. At the 2025 Mountain West Conference Championships in Houston, the Cougars tallied five individual event titles and two relay titles en route to their best finish at a conference championships in program history, finishing fifth. 

COUGARS MAKE HISTORY
WSU posted an 8-0 mark in dual meets last season, tying the program record for wins with eight (1978-79, 1979-80, 1996-97, 2001-02, 2015-16) while recording the first undefeated season in program history after the 1991-92 team went 5-0-1.

AUSTIN PILLADO PROMOTED TO ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH
Cougar Swimming's Austin Pillado was promoted to Associate Head Coach this past summer. In his first season at WSU, Pillado helped WSU post a perfect 8-0 record in dual meets, tying the record for single-season wins and the first undefeated season in program history. Three Cougars earned trips to the NCAA Championships, marking just the second in program history with three NCAA selections. Pillado coached freshman Darcy Revitt who qualified for the NCAA Championships while winning a pair of Mountain West Conference titles in the 50 free and 100 free along with helping the 200 medley relay team to a title as well. 

COUGAR SWIMMING ADDS JACKIE MUDD AS ASSISTANT COACH
Jackie Mudd was named an assistant coach this past summer. Mudd joined WSU after working this past season as an assistant coach for the men's and women's programs at the Colorado School of Mines and has worked as an assistant coach on the USA Swimming program, working with swimmers ages 8-18. In her only season at Colorado School of Mines, Mudd coached the distance and IM group while also serving as the programs' recruiting coordinator where she produced the top Division II incoming recruiting class in the country according to SwimCloud. The Colorado native swam collegiately at Biola University in California where she helped BU to a 2021 conference championship, was a four-time CSCAA Academic All-American and graduated in 2024.
