BERKELEY, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2025) – Washington State seniors
Eva Alvarez Sande and
Maxine Murphy cruised through their Round of 16 doubles match to highlight's Sunday's action at the 2025 ITA Northwest Regional, Friday at the Hellman Tennis Center.
Alvarez Sande and Murphy, the No. 2 seed, rolled into Monday's quarterfinal round as they had no trouble in posting an 8-1 win over Oregon's Tilde Jagare and Juliet Santitto. The pair will face No. 8 seed Reece Carter and Carina Syrtveit of Washington in the quarterfinals.
In singles action, both Murphy and Alvarez Sande were in Round of 16 matches, though neither advanced. Murphy faced off against Cal's Naomi Xu, falling 6-4, 6-3. Alvarez Sande never found her groove as she dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Washington's Carter. Sophomore
Chisato Kanemaki dropped a three-set consolation match to Fresno State's Eliza Dunbar, 4-6, 6-4, 14-12.
Doubles action continues Monday in Berkeley.
