Cougars Notch Four Wins on Opening Day at Fresno State Invite

FRESNO, Calif. (October 10, 2025) – Washington State claimed four wins on the opening day of the Fresno State Invite Friday.
The Cougars opened the day claiming four of the first five events of the invite to build lead the five-team invite by 20 points before the diving events. WSU does not have diving.
"We had an amazing first day at the Gary Ota Memorial meet," head coach Russell Whitaker said. "We are very happy with our showing today and to see what the team will accomplish tomorrow."
Senior Lauren Wille picked up her first win of the season with a 500 free win with a 4:58.24 while freshman Avery Bulkley placed fourth at 4:59.70 in her first collegiate race. Senior Emily Lundgren won her first 200 IM race of the season at 2:03.13 before 2025 NCAA participant sophomore Darcy Revitt opened her season with a win in the 50 free at 22.80 with freshman Barbora Mileisyte close behind with a 23.12, good for second in her collegiate debut.
The Cougars closed the morning with a win in the 200 free relay by Barbora, sophomore Issabelle Parrish, Lundgren and Revitt.
In the evening session, Parrish opened the session placing third in the 100 fly at 56.16, Wille was second in the 200 free (1:50.79) and the 800 free relay team for Revitt, Bulkley, Parrish and Wille finished second (7:30.38).
The Cougars finished the day in fourth.
