TUCSON, Ariz. (April 20, 2024) – Washington State dropped a 7-1 contest to No. 19 Arizona at Hi Corbett Field Saturday evening.

The Cougars (18-19, 7-13 Pac-12) received a two-hit game from
Max Hartman and solid start from
Connor Wilford who struck out seven and worked into the seventh inning. The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning but Arizona (23-14, 12-5 Pac-12) answered with a run in their half of the fourth, took a lead with two in the fifth and pulled away with a four-run seventh. WSU left nine runners on base as the Wildcats won their ninth straight conference game.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
In the fourth inning,
Joey Kramer reached on an infield single to shortstop, moved to second on a groundout and scored on Cramer's RBI-single through the left side for the early lead. In the bottom of the inning, Arizona took advantage of a Cougar miscue as a missed fly ball put a runner on third and one batter later, UA scored on a two-out double to even the game at one.

In the fifth, WSU stranded a pair of runners to end the top of the frame before Arizona pushed its lead to 3-1 after a pair of hits, a walk and Cougar error in the bottom of inning. The Wildcats added a solo homer and three more runs in the seventh for a 7-1 advantage.
