Â
The Cougars answered with a pair of runs in the third inning as Russell fouled off four two-strike pitches before driving an RBI-double the other way down the right field line to drive in

WSU tied things up with a pair of runs in the fourth as Hartman drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to left field before Russell drove an RBI-single to right-centerfield to score
Nate Swarts from first, tying the game at four. In the bottom of the inning, UCLA loaded the bases and WSU nearly kept the Bruins off the board but a two-out shallow popup fell in between centerfield, right field and second base to allow two runs to score for a 6-4 UCLA lead.
Â
In the seventh, the Cougars put two runners on with one out but the Bruin bullpen ended the threat with a popout and flyout. UCLA pulled away with a two-out three-run double in the eighth inning.
