Cougars Win Five Singles Matches on Final Day of Husky Invitational
 
SEATTLE, Wash. (Oct. 6, 2024) – Washington State Tennis captured five of six singles matches on the final day of play Sunday at the Husky Invitational, played at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
 
Senior Elyse Tse and freshman Chisato Kanemaki each captured singles wins then teamed to post a doubles victory to highlights WSU's day. Tse posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Iowa's Nikita Vishwase while senior Hania Abouelsaad defeated Pia Kranholdt of Iowa, 6-4, 6-3. WSU freshman Martina Puvill recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win over Iowa's Jessica Matthews and sophomore Martina Markova defeated Seattle U's Liliya Dimova, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Another WSU freshman, Chisato Kanemaki, needed three sets to defeat Seattle's Natala Michta, 6-7, 7-6, 1-0, to pick up WSU's fifth singles win.
 
In doubles play, Tse and Kanemaki defeated Denver's Andrea Burguete Beltran and Louise Wikander, 7-6, the lone doubles win for the Cougars against Denver.
 
The Cougars return to the court Oct. 11 when they begin play at the 2024 ITA Northwest Regionals in Berkeley, Calif.
