PULLMAN, Wash. (January 31, 2024) – Washington State Rowing Head Coach
Jane LaRiviere announced the promotion of
Chris Bailey-Greene to Associate Head Coach on Wednesday.
"I am pleased to announce the promotion of
Chris Bailey-Greene to Associate Head Coach for Women's rowing," said LaRiviere. "Chris has earned this promotion. He is no stranger to hard work and his passion for recruiting is unmatched. Chris is committed to the growth and development of our current student-athletes and he is playing a major role in the future growth of our program. It is very exciting."
Prior to his elevation, Bailey-Greene had been working as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the WSU rowing program since August of 2022.
"I want to thank Coach LaRiviere and Deputy Director of Athletics Anne McCoy for putting their faith in me moving forward and truly making Pullman home for me and my family," said Bailey-Greene. "It has been and will continue to be an honor to work with such passionate, selfless, and motivated individuals here at WSU. From all the Cougs on the squad to our amazing support staff that works behind the scenes, it is quite easy to show up driven each day. I will continue to uphold all that Washington State values and I am beyond excited for what the future holds. As always, Go Cougs!"
Coach Bailey-Greene brought a heap of Pac-12 rowing experience to the Cougar staff, as he spent two years as the top assistant coach for the Oregon State men's rowing team from 2018-2020. During his time in Corvallis, the Beavers finished fourth at the 2019 Pac-12 Rowing Championships to earn a berth into the IRA National Championships and a Top 18 national ranking.
Prior to joining the Cougars, Bailey-Greene spent two seasons as the Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Gonzaga, where he helped the Bulldogs to back-to-back West Coast Conference Championships in 2021 and 2022 and improved NCAA championship rankings each year.
Bailey-Greene has also spent time as an assistant coach at Yale and the New York Athletic Club. During his time with Yale's men's rowing team, the Bulldogs won the 2018 IRA Varsity 8+ National Championship. In college, Bailey-Greene was a four-year member of the rowing team at Brown University, where the team was ranked inside the top five nationally each season. He is also a Level III Certified US Rowing coach.
