Washington State has become a prominent feature in the NWSL Draft, with a Cougar has been selected by an NWSL side each of the last four Drafts. WSU has more draft selections since 2020 than every school in the country except for UCLA. In 2020, Morgan Weaver was selected No. 2 overall by the Portland Thorns, followed by Trinity Rodman in 2021 as the second overall pick to the Washington Spirit. In 2022, Elyse Bennett continued the streak, being selected No. 7 to Kansas City Current. In the 2023 Draft, Minniss was drafted by the KC Current.
Seven former Cougar soccer student-athletes currently compete in the NWSL, with nine all-time draft selections since the League was established in 2012.
