Three Cougar Swimmers Named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans

RICHMOND, Va. (July 12, 2023) – Three Washington State swimmers earned CSCAA Scholar All-America accolades and as a team the Cougars also received Scholar All-America Team honors, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced Wednesday.
Freshman Emily Lundgren was named to the Scholar All-America First Team while sophomore Noelle Harvey and freshman Anna Rauchholz each earned second team recognition. The Cougars posted a 3.48 team GPA in the spring semester to earn the team honor the fourteenth straight semester including all 10 under head coach Matt Leach and for the 24th time in program history. WSU's 3.48 team GPA featured seven 4.0 and 19 student-athletes with a 3.0 of better during the semester.
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a "B" time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet.
"WSU continues to excel in the classroom. This academic award shows that our program continues to strive and earn top academic honors while continuing this legacy," Head Coach Matt Leach said. "I am proud of our strong academic performance and we will continue to push our students-athletes to new heights. Go Cougs!"
Lundgren caps off a record-setting freshman campaign with another honor after qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 100 breast and 200 breast, setting two school records in the both events and placing third in the 200 breast at the Pac-12 Conference Championships. The Chula Vista, Calif. native led the team with 11 individual wins and posted a 4.00 spring GPA while majoring in digital technology and culture.
Harvey earns Scholar All-America second-team honors for the second straight season after posting a 3.70 GPA while majoring in kinesiology. This past season, the sophomore from Carlsbad tallied five individual wins, posted four WSU Top-10 times, was a member of three school record-setting relay teams, recorded an NCAA "B" time in the 500 free at the Pac-12 Championships and helped the 400 free relay team win the postseason CSCAA NIC.
Rauchholz picked up her first career Scholar All-America accolade after posting a 4.00 GPA while majoring in biochemistry. This past season the Portland native recorded three individual wins, posted two WSU Top-10 times, tallied an NCAA "B" time in the 100 back at the Art Adamson Invitational in Texas and competed in the 50 back and 100 back at the postseason CSCAA NIC.
