Rowing set to host Oregon State at Wawawai Landing this Saturday

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State women's rowing team is set to host its lone home regatta of the 2022-23 season this Saturday, April 8, as the Cougars host No. 17-ranked Oregon State at Wawawai Landing.

Regatta Format and Schedule
Washington State and Oregon State will race in a head-to-head regatta this Saturday at Wawawai Landing on the Snake River.

The regatta will start at 8 a.m. PT. The 2nd varsity 4+ race opens the day at 8 a.m. PT, followed by the 2nd varsity 8+ race at 8:15 a.m. PT. The 1st varsity 4+ gets underway at 8:30 a.m. PT, then the Crawford Plate race between the 1st varsity 8+ crews will begin at 8:45 a.m. PT. The 3rd varsity 8+/novice 8+ race concludes the regatta at 9 a.m. PT.

Winchell Cup and Crawford Plate Races
The Cougars and the Beavers will once again race for the Winchell Cup and Crawford Plate at this Saturday's regatta. Oregon State comes to Wawawai Landing in possession of both trophies after winning them for the second-straight year last season at Dexter Lake.

The Winchell Cup has been given annually since 2001 to the overall winner of the dual regatta between WSU and OSU. It is named after former Washington State novice rowing coach Jodi Winchell.

The Crawford Perpetual Plate has been presented to the winner of the WSU/OSU first varsity eight race since 2003 and is named after former Cougar varsity rowing coach Tammy Crawford, who was WSU's head women's rowing coach from 1990-2002.

Results and Boat Lineups
Fans can check with WSUCougars.com later on Saturday or check with the WSU rowing social media pages 45 minutes after the regatta has concluded for results.

Directions to Wawawai Landing
From Highway 195 (north or south): Turn West on Wawawai Road at the blinking yellow light. Travel on Wawawai Road for 10 miles, the road will end at a stop sign. Turn right at the said stop sign, then drive six miles down into the canyon. Go past the Wawaiwai County Park on the right and over the railroad tracks. The WSU Cougar Rowing Boathouse will be the cinderblock building on the right of the road. Park on the side of the road or in the parking lot south of the boathouse.
