Box Score SEATTLE, Wash. – The 22nd-ranked Washington Huskies captured all six singles matches en route to a 7-0 victory over Washington State in the Boeing Apple Cup Series Saturday afternoon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
 
Washington (16-7, 6-4) began the day by winning at No. 2 and 3 doubles to capture the opening point. The No. 1 doubles match featured two ranked teams as WSU's pair of Eva Alvarez Sande and Elyse Tse, ranked No. 50, were down a break to No. 65 Erika Matsuda and Hikaru Sato, 2-5 when play was stopped.
 
In singles play, WSU (7-14, 0-10) battled in the middle of the lineup but couldn't break through as the Huskies captured four of the six matches in straight-sets. At No. 1, Sato, ranked No. 107, defeated Alvarez Sande 6-1, 6-1 while Sarah-Maude Fortin posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 over Yura Nakagawa. Tse captured the first set against Astrid Olsen at No. 3, before eventually falling in a third-set breaker, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8). At No. 4, Fifa Kumhom battled from a set down to force a third, but came up just short in a 6-0, 3-6, 1-0- (10-7) loss to Jennifer Kerr at No. 4.
 
The final two matches saw Matsuda defeated Hania Abouelsaad, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 while Melissa Sakar completed a 6-0, 6-0 win over Stefaniia Mikhailova at No. 6
 
The cougars will next be in action Wednesday when it competes in the first round of the 2023 Pac-12 Women's Tennis Championship. The brackets for the championship will be released later this weekend.
