Pullman, WASH. – The Washington State Women's Swim team set six Gibb pool records, a top-10 time, and swept Idaho on senior night, 162-92. WSU began their last home meet by recognizing
Mikaela Kirton,
Jewel Springer, Michee Van Rooyen, and Rebecca Oviedo Cardenas.
The Cougars posted the fastest time in all 14 swimming races marking the 26
th time WSU has recorded a win over the Vandals in series history.
The 200-medley relay team of
Anna Rauchholz,
Hailey Grotte, Kaya Takishige, and
Selena Duran got things rolling with a victory that broke Gibb Pool records.
Moments later, senior captain,
Jewel Springer touched the wall first in her last home meet and recorded a top-10 time in the 400 IM.
WSU rose to the top of the leaderboard in the 200 free and Angela di Palo secured a win in the event to set the second pool record of the evening.
In the fourth event of the meet, Rauchholz set her second pool record of the night, finishing first in the race.
Fellow freshman
Emily Lundgren took first place, recorded an NCAA "B" cut time, and set the pool record in the 100 breast.
Similarly,
Dori Hathazi clocked in an NCAA "B" cut time in the 200 fly securing an event win.
WSU continued their winning streak and posted three more back-to-back wins.
Kirsten de Goede swept the 50 free, Di Palo clinched her second win of the night in the 100 free, and
Kiana Swain secured a win in the 200 back.
Lundgren shined later in the meet as she placed another NCAA "B" cut time in the 200 breast and set the pool record that hasn't been sent since 2020.
The Cougs continued to dominate as
Lauren Wille recorded her first career win in the 500 free.
WSU completed the meet just as they started with a relay win and pool record from the 400 relay team of Di Palo, Hathazi, de Goede, and Duran.
The Cougars will return to the pool in two weeks at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center for the Pac-12 Conference Championships, Feb. 22– 26, in Federal Way, Washington.
