Mason Lawyer lowered the freshman 200m record for the second time this indoor season to take third at the Arkansas Qualifier as Washington State's indoor track and field teams closed the book on Friday's meet. Lawyer's performance highlighted the Cougar's time at the Tyson Indoor Center in Fayetteville, Ark. The Cougars notched three podium finishes and earned five top-5 times against highly-skilled teams.
Mason Lawyer (21.13) lowered the freshman record in the 200m for the second time this season. Lawyer finished in third place. Lawyer is within striking distance of the program record.
Ronald Grueso Mosqquera finished in the top four in every meet this season for the shot put. Grueso Mosqquera finished in fourth place with a throw of 17.76m competing against the Arkansaw Qualifier meet record holder.
Louie Hinchliffe (6.80) opened the 60m dash with his first heat win as a Coug. Both Hinchliffe and Mason Lawyer (6.88) advanced to the finals, as they finished in fourth place and eighth, respectively.
Sophomore Nana Gyedu won her fourth meet of the season, notching a shotput throw of 14.96m. Gyedu has finished in the top three in every meet during the indoor season.
Micaela De Mello (8.29) posted a solid showing, finishing in fourth place in the 60m hurdles.
Jasneet Nijjar lowered her personal best time in the 400m for the second straight meet and finished in ninth to round out the top ten.
WSU wraps up the indoor regular season with the 2023 Pac-12 Invitational (Feb. 24-25) when it makes the trip to the west side of the state. The Cougars will compete in the UW Dempsey Indoor Center. The NCAA Division Indoor Track and Field Championships are slated for Mar. 10-11 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
