Cougars wrap up day one in Seattle and New Mexico, set all-time top-five mark in 3,000m

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M/ Seattle, Wash --Washington State's indoor track and field team opened the weekend with the first days of competition at both the Don Kirby Elite and Husky Classic, respectively. The Cougars tallied three personal-best times/marks to begin the weekend while Alaina Stone Boggs ran her way into record books with the third-fastest women's 3000m (9:21.29) time in history. 
 
 
Don Kirby Elite Recap (all times/marks converted to sea level) 
Freshman Mason Lawyer had a strong showing the 200m to take 14th with a time of 21.36 (21.47 at sea level).  
Bode Brewer produced a personal best time of 22.12 seconds to claim 24th in the unseeded portion of the event. 
 
Senior Anna Rodgers took 14th with a jump of 5.79m. 
 
 
Husky Classic Recap 
The 3000m freshman indoor record holder, Alaina Stone Boggs, moved into third place on the Cougars' record book with a blistering time of 9:21.29. Seattle, Washington has been kind to Stone Boggs as she set the freshman record in Seattle at the 2022 Pac-12 Invitational. Stone Boggs finished in 8th-place as the highest Pac-12 conference finisher in the race. 

Parker Duskin excelled in the 60m hurdles winning the event in a personal best time of 8.14 seconds.
 
Brian Barsaiya led the 5000m distance pack taking 15th with a personal best time of 14:00.77 
 
Cristina Molteni made her Cougar debut in the 5000m taking 22nd with a time of 16:40.19. 
 
 
NEXT UP: 
WSU is back on the road next week traveling to the Arkansas Qualifier (Friday, Feb 17) in the Tyson Indoor Track Center as a tune-up for the Pac-12 Invitational the following week.  The 2023 NCAA Division Indoor Track and Field Championships are slated for Mar. 10-11 from the Albuquerque Convention Center.
