SPOKANE, Wash. – The Washington State women's rowing team concluded competition at the Head of the Spokane, Saturday, Oct. 21 in Spokane, Wash., in the first of two competitions for the WSU crew this weekend. The Cougars' second and third varsity eights, along with a novice eight, competed in the 5,000-meter race.
The Cougars hit the water from Gonzaga Boathouse at 9 a.m. in the opening flight, hosted by Gonzaga University. WSU's second varsity eight finished in 17 minutes and 28 seconds, taking sixth in Flight No. 1.

WSU's third varsity eight clocked a time of 18 minutes 57 seconds in the race. Dani Vicinte stroked from the stern with

Abby Cady,

In the novice flight, Madison Cohnheim coxswained stroke-seat Grace Grant and the crew to a third-place finish in 20 minutes flat (G. Grant, Riley Hall, Anna Anderson, Sage Cadwell, Nora Gossell, Gillian Pribic,
Emily Corbett, Abigail Tourtellot).
The Cougars split their second varsity eight into two fours for the day's second varsity flight. WSU's 3V4+ clocked the third-fastest time in 19 minutes and 21 seconds (V. Lichvarcik, Anderson, Jachymek, Elliott, Horrigan). The fourth varsity four finished in 19 minutes and 48 seconds (Gulig, Munroe, Curtright, Kadir, Bylund) ahead of the LMU V4+.
The Washington State third varsity eight raced with the same student-athletes and coxswain, in a changed lineup, crossing the finish line in 18 minutes 54 seconds. The Cougars' novice boat for the second flight finished in 22 minutes and 16 seconds with Ella McCoy in the coxswain's seat (Amy Kovich, Carli Childres, Hannah Fabacher, Mariah Daheim, Ella Bridenback, Bailey Harpster, Madelyn Mann, Hailey Littlefield).
Beginning Sunday afternoon, the Cougars will also be competing on the other side of the country in the historic Head of the Charles regatta. Nearly 800 rowing clubs, ranging from high school and junior crews up through masters division, will compete in the three-day regatta, which began Friday morning.
The WSU varsity four is scheduled to race at 10:35 a.m. PT (1:35 p.m. ET) followed by the women's varsity eight flight at 11:32 a.m. PT (2:32 p.m. ET).
