Ten Cougars Receive Preseason All-Pac-12 Honors by Athlon Sports

PULLMAN, Wash. (June 2, 2022) – Ten Washington State players were named to Preseason All-Pac-12 Conference Teams, Athlon Sports announced Thursday.
 
Two players were named to the first team in EDGE Ron Stone Jr. and kicker Dean Janikowski while four were named to the second team in wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling, EDGE Brennan Jackson, linebacker Daiyan Henley and defensive back Armani Marsh. Wideout Renard Bell and punter Nick Haberer were both named to the third team while quarterback Cameron Ward and offensive lineman Jarrett Kingston were each named to the fourth team.
 
Janikowski was an All-Pac-12 first-team selection last season after connecting on 14-of-17 field goal attempts, good for the best field goal percentage in the Pac-12 and recorded the third-most makes in the conference. The redshirt-junior from Fallbrook, Calif. also finished the season tied for third in the conference among kickers with 84 points and capped the regular season tying a WSU Apple Cup record with four made field goals in the win over Washington, earning Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors along the way.
 
Stone Jr. earned his first career All-Pac-12 honor last season after making 11.5 tackles-for-loss, tied for fourth in the conference, and tied for eighth in the league with five sacks. The redshirt-senior from San Jose, Calif. recorded a tackle-for-loss in eight games this season, including a season-high three at Utah and tallied a sack in four-straight games, helping WSU to three-straight wins during that stretch.
 
Stribling was named All-Pac-12 honorable mention as a freshman last season after catching 44 passes for 471 yards and five touchdowns. The Kapolei, Hawaii native led all Pac-12 freshmen in catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
 
Henley is set to begin his first season at Washington State after transferring from Nevada where he earned All-Mountain West Conference second-team honors last season. The Los Angeles native led the Wolfpack with 103 tackles including three for loss with four interceptions, three fumble recoveries, four pass breakups and five double-digit tackle efforts.
 
Jackson earned his first career All-Pac-12 honor last season, receiving honorable mention after making 46 tackles with six tackles-for-loss including four sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. The Temecula, Calif. native earned a pair of Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week awards (at Cal, Stanford) and was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team.
 
Marsh earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention last season after making 70 tackles with 5.5 for loss, a team-high three interceptions and two forced fumbles. The Spokane, Wash. native was a Burlsworth Trophy Nominee (top former walk-on) and capped the regular season earning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week after making five tackles and picked off two passes including one he returned for a touchdown in the Apple Cup win over Washington.
 
Bell returns for his sixth season in a Cougar uniform after missing last season with a knee injury. The Los Angeles native earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention in 2020 after catching 33 passes in just four games and enters 2022 with 147 career receptions for 1,656 yards and 16 for touchdowns in 43 games.
  
Haberer earned FWAA Freshman All-America accolades last season, WSU's first Freshman All-American since 2016, after punting 52 times for 2,225 yards, 42.8 yards-per-punt with 14 inside the 20 and five of 50+yards including a long of 60. The native of Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia was second in the Pac-12 in hang time (4.12) and tied for second in the league with 23 punts fair caught. Haberer was the sixth Australian to earn Freshman All-America honor from the FWAA, all of whom are punters.
 
Kingston started all 13 games last season, 12 at left guard and one at left tackle in the Sun Bowl and played the most snaps at left guard in the Pac-12 last season. The redshirt-junior owns 28 career games played, 17 career starts and earned team-best offensive line grades last games in games at Utah, in the win at California, the Apple Cup win and was the Pac-12's top-graded offensive lineman following the win over Oregon State.
 
Ward transferred to Washington State this past January after two record-setting seasons at Incarnate Word in Texas. The sophomore from West Columbia, Texas won the Jerry Rice Award following the 2020 season, the award given to the most outstanding freshman player in FCS football after setting UIW single-season records with 2,260 yards and 24 touchdowns in just six games. Last season at UIW, Ward was named an FCS second-team All-American, the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Walter Payton Award Finalist (give to the most outstanding offensive player in FCS) after leading UIW to a 10-3 record with school records of 4,648 passing yards, 47 touchdown passes and 357.5 passing yards-per-game.
