Norris Becomes Fifth Coug to Earn Multiple All-Pac-12 Honors

| By:

SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced Friday, May 20, that Washington State rowing fifth-year senior Jessica Norris has been named to the 2022 All-Pac-12 team. It is the second-straight season that Norris has earned All-Pac-12 honors, making her the fifth WSU rower in program history to earn multiple All-Pac-12 accolades.

Norris rowed for WSU's First Varsity Eight boat in all six races she competed in this season. She guided the 1V8 to a Fawley Cup win over Gonzaga, to give WSU its 27th victory against the Bulldogs over the last 30 Fawley Cup races. Norris also led the Cougars to wins against No. 12 Southern Cal and No. 19 Alabama in the 1V8 race at the 2022 Pac-12 Invitational at Lake Las Vegas back on April 10. Norris helped the Cougs post a top-20 ranking in the CRCA/Pocock Poll for the majority of the season, as Washington State was ranked in seven of the 11 weekly polls during the 2021-22 campaign.

The rower from Havelock, New Zealand becomes the first Cougar in exactly a decade to pick up multiple All-Pac-12 honors, as Norris also earned an all-conference nod back in 2021. Olympic Gold Medalist Lisa Roman was the last WSU rower to pick up back-to-back All-Pac-12 honors, earning the distinction back in 2011 and 2012. Norris joins Roman, Sarah Waterfield (2006, 2007), Jody Thomas (2005, 2006), and Corrie McGrath (2002, 2003) as the only WSU rowers to earn multiple all-conference honors since the creation of the Pac.

Members of the Pac-12 All-Conference rowing teams are based upon each institution's finish in the First Varsity Eight race at the Pac-12 Championships, which were held at Dexter Lake in Lowell, Oregon. The Pac-12 Conference champion provides four members of the all-conference team, the second-place crew provides three members, and the third-place finisher provides two. All other participating crews receive one selection each.
