Chloe Larson Headed to NCAA Championships for Second Straight Year

PULLMAN, Wash. (March 2, 2022) – For the second straight season, Washington State Women's Swimming senior Chloe Larson qualified for the NCAA Championships, the NCAA announced Wednesday. The 2022 NCAA Championships are set for March 16-19 in Atlanta.
Larson is the first Cougar swimmer to earn back-to-back trips to the NCAA's since Michaela Ahlin in 2009-10 and the fourth to do so in program history, joining Erin Eldridge (1998-2000), Erin McCleave (2006-07) and Ahlin. This season, Larson recorded nine individual wins including all seven in the 50 free with wins over conference opponents Arizona, Arizona State, at No. 17 USC and at UCLA.
"We are so excited for Chloe to compete at NCAA's and represent Cougar Nation on the NCAA stage. She is a perfect example of our Family first mindset, Academics second attitude and Competing at the highest level, third," Washington State Head Coach Matt Leach said. "Chloe's commitment to our Cougar Family and building this program shows in her success. She has made history as the first Coug to win a Pac-12 Championship and continues to set new records. Our Cougar Family has grown and shown that you can perform in our program at the NCAA stage and win at the Pac-12 level."
Larson, who won the 2021 Pac-12 Conference Championship in the 50 free, qualified in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. The Rapid City, S.D. native posted an NCAA "B" time of 22.13 in the 50 free that also set a school-record while leading off the 200 free relay at the Phil Hansel Invitational in Houston this past November. The 200 free relay team set the school record then and recently broke that record at the Pac-12 Championships last week.
Larson qualified in the 100 free after posting an NCAA "B" time 49.02 to win the event final at the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston this past November.
