Daiyan Henley was named to the AP Midseason All-America Team, The Associated Press announced Tuesday.

Henley is one of five Pac-12 players named to the team and was one of three linebackers named alongside Ivan Pace Jr. of Cincinnati and Drew Sanders of Arkansas. The last Cougar named to a Midseason All-America Team was kicker Blake Mazza in 2019 who earned second-team honors by The Athletic while defensive lineman Hercules Mata'afa was named to the Midseason All-America Team by the AP, ESPN.com, CBS Sports and Athlon in 2017.

Henley entered WSU's bye week second in the Pac-12 Conference with 68 tackles, tenth-most in the country and second in the conference with 11 tackles-for-loss, tied for fourth-most in the country. According to Pro Football Focus College, Henley owns the best pass-rush grade and best tackling grade among Pac-12 linebackers.

The Los Angeles native is also tied for fifth in the Pac-12 with four sacks and owns three double-digit tackle games this season including a game-highs of 11 at No. 6 USC and 13 at Oregon State last weekend. Following the win over Colorado State week three, Henley earned Bednarik Award, Reese's Senior Bowl and Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week accolades after making 13 tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles. Henley earned a criminal justice degree from Nevada and graduate transferred to WSU this past January after earning All-Mountain West Conference second-team honors last season.

Earlier this season, Henley was added to the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, awarded to college football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year, and was recently added to the Bednarik Award Watch List, presented annually to the outstanding defensive player in college football.
