SPOKANE, Wash. – The Washington State University Track and Field program recorded yet another successful trip up north, as the Cougars were in action at the H.I.R. Invite, hosted by Whitworth.
The Washington State women's squad saw numerous victories throughout the day at the H.I.R. Invite, beginning with
Giovanna Rhoads in the high jump. Rhoads posted a season-best mark of 5-feet 3 inches (1.60m) to claim the top spot at the meet.
Elena Willems placed first overall in the 800-meter with a time of 2:17.91, and
Geneva Schlepp took first in the 1500-meter with a personal best of 4:47.04 as well.
Pia Richards posted a first place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:44.23. Finally
Caroline Jerotich posted an impressive run in the 5000-meter with a personal best of 17:38.11 for the win.Â
The Cougar men saw multiple solid performances during this competition, but it was
Seth Andres who recorded the lone victory for the WSU men on the day. Andres went on to finish first overall in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal bets of 15.00 overall. Andres also posted another personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.39 as well.
Marty Munyon saw a third place finish in the hammer throw as he recorded a personal best of 170-feet 1 inch (51.84m) for the Cougs. The 1500-meter saw multiple PR's for WSU as well as both
Ethan Martin (4:01.58) and
Cooper Cortinas (4:02.63) each recorded personal bests in the event, finishing fifth and seventh respectively.
