SAN FRANCISCO – Closing out the 2021 Spring Season, senior Marissa Zucchetto was named the final Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Zucchetto became the second Cougar to earn a weekly award in 2021 joining junior Mykiaa Minniss who earned Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week Feb. 22. The award was the first of her career and the first goalkeeper award for the Cougars since Rachel Johnson (Thompson) earned her second weekly award of the 2018 season Oct. 30.

Playing their final game of the season, Zucchetto led the Cougs to a 0-0, 2OT, draw with No. 22 Washington in the second half of the Boeing Apple Cup Series Friday, April 16. Facing a constant barrage of shots from the Huskies, Zucchetto was up to the task as the senior keeper dominated in net to turn away a career-best 13 shots, the highest save total for a Pac-12 keeper in 2021. The stellar work in net marked the first double-digit save performance for a Cougar keeper in over half a decade since all-time great Ella Dederick made 11 saves against Colorado Oct. 11, 2015. In addition, the 13-save performance ranked tied for the fourth most in program history with Cassandra Graber against Cal Sept. 22, 1991 and the most since Natalie McDowell posted 18 against UCSB Oct. 8, 1993.

Not only did Zucchetto come up with a career night in saves she also produced her fifth clean sheet of the season to shutdown the Huskies' potent attack. Overall, four of her shutouts came in Pac-12 play as she ranked tied for fifth in the conference overall in shutouts. For the year, Zucchetto finished with 44 saves and 12 goals against (0.94 GAA) while posting a 6-3-3 record.
