LOS ANGELES (October 29, 2021) – Washington State Women's Swimming produced 25 season-best times and senior
Chloe Larson won the 50 free but the Cougars dropped a 161-93 decision to No. 17 USC in Los Angeles Friday afternoon.

The Cougars (2-2) opened the meet finishing second in the 200 medley relay and Larson, the defending Pac-12 Champion in the 50 free, used a season-best 22.96 to notch her third straight win. The senior from Rapid City, S.D. won both races against Arizona and No. 22 Arizona State two weeks ago.

"Our focus right now is to focus on ourselves, continue to improve each day and I was very excited about our effort today. We recorded a lot of season-best and personal-best times while competing against one of the top teams in the country in USC," head coach
Matt Leach said. "Chloe (Larson) was impressive with a win in the 50 free, Mackenzie (Duarte) stepped up and put together a couple in-season personal-bests, Taylor (McCoy) really got going in the 100 back, Angela (Di Palo) had her fastest swim in the 100 free and Noelle (Harvey) really stepped up in the 500 free. I am very proud of our effort today, I'm excited about where we are going and I can't wait to see us compete and swim tomorrow at UCLA."

Angela Di Palo was second in the 100 free after finishing four-tenths of second behind the winner, senior
Taylor McCoy recorded a pair of season-best times and second-place finishes in the 200 back and 200 IM while senior
Lauren Burckel also recorded a season-best time to place fourth in the 200 IM.

Senior
Mackenzie Duarte finished second in the 200 breast and third in the 100 breast, both were season-best times. Freshman
Noelle Harvey was third with a season-best time in the 500 free and WSU closed the meet finishing in a close second in the 200 free relay,

The Cougars will wrap up their California road trip with a meet at UCLA beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.
