Five Minutes With Coug Max Borghi

| By:
Over the coming weeks, we will catch up with and spend five minutes with a number of current Cougar student-athletes. Leading us off will be junior-to-be running back Max Borghi!

What have you been up to? What's a day in your life look like these days?
I've just been trying to stay busy. I usually start the day with some breakfast and then a couple hours of zoom classes in the morning. After that I usually make lunch which has been interesting because I've been making my own lunch, we are definitely missing the Gray W and Chef Raul! I've been going to the grocery store and making my own meals like pastas, enchiladas, hamburgers and trying to do some stuff on the grill for lunch and dinner.

After lunch is when I work out. Our strength and conditioning staff gave us a plan to execute a plan so we have been creative in finding ways to workout. Finding weights has been tough but I've trying to do as much as I can. Something new that I have gotten excited about is biking, over the last couple weeks I've been biking more than I ever have and I have also been running so the Pullman hills have provided great workouts. After workouts, I usually hang with Bailey the Pup and we play video games and we watched Tiger King which was crazy!

What has been your favorite game in your first two seasons?
Oh there have been a bunch but a couple that stand out right away. Going back home to Colorado and winning there by my freshman year was pretty special, I had so many friends and family there and it was a big game for us at the time too. The Oregon game in 2018 was awesome, having Game Day in town was so cool to watch, we got a big win and I made a move to juke the Oregon linebacker and score late in the first half that was an awesome moment. The Oregon State game this year was pretty crazy too, all of my teammates backed me up after I ran my mouth that week, haha!

The biggest game that stands out was the Alamo Bowl win, what an awesome week for that team and Cougar nation! It was my first bowl game so I didn't know what to expect but it was big time! The atmosphere was great, Coug nation showed out, the Iowa State fans were crazy and both teams were playing good football. That final touchdown to put us up for good was awesome, it felt so good to send out all our seniors with a season like that and win that big was great!

What has been the best story you have from the inside the huddle or at the line of scrimmage the last 2 years?
Ha, there a bunch and most are about how much Gordo (Anthony Gordon) and I talk to the other team at the line scrimmage. There were a couple times when our own offensive linemen would turn to us and tell us to shut up. I had a blast playing with Gordo this past year, and the quarterback before him was kinda fun to play with too, ha!

How much is fun is Pullman during the fall?
Oh man, Game Days in Pullman are incredible! Coug nation takes over the whole campus and city once those Thursday tailgates start and it becomes the best college town in the country.

What was your first NFL Game you went to?
The first game I can remember was a Broncos-Chiefs game a couple years ago when I was down on the field for halftime and was presented with an award. My best NFL moment was going to the Denver Broncos Super Bowl parade after they won Super Bowl 50, which was a pretty fun day.

What NFL players do you like watching right now?
The Colorado Boys! Christian McCaffrey of the Panthers and Phillip Lindsay of the Broncos. I like McCaffrey because he can do it all for that offense and then Lindsay is a smaller guy who runs hard and he's also a local guy from Denver too so it's easy to root for him.

We have heard that you have gotten into golf since you got to Pullman? Who is your dream golf foursome made up of Cougar teammates?
Yes, I have gotten into golf and it's a lot of fun. My dream foursome would John Bledsoe, Kyle Sweet and Trey Tinsley and we would play at Pebble Beach. Kyle is probably the best out of the group so I would team with him but I would win it for us with an 50-foot chip-in that would drive John and Trey crazy!
