WSU SENDS FIVE TO NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Washington State track and field qualified five total student-athletes to the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend, beginning Friday, March 13, and will run through Saturday, March 14. The student-athletes from WSU who qualified are Emmanuel "Ray Ray" Wells Jr. (60-meter dash),
Charisma Taylor (triple jump),
Kreete Verlin (long jump),
Sam Brixey (60-meter hurdles), and finally
Leonie Reuter (high jump). The University of New Mexico will host this year's indoor championships, as events will be conducted inside the Albuquerque Convention Center.Â

MPSF Championships
Kreete Verlin continued her winning ways this weekend picking up the victory in the long jump with a mark of 20-feet 2 1/2 inches (6.16m).
Charisma Taylor followed suite with Verlin, as Taylor picked up the win in the triple jump, with a mark of 43-feet 7 1/4 inches (13.29m) in the event.
Jordyn Tucker blazed ahead in the 60-meter dash preliminary round, running a 7.43 to now hold the WSU record in the event. Tucker went on to finish eighth overall in the finals as well with a time of 7.53.
Faimalie Sale jumped into a tie for second all-time in Washington State history in the weight throw after a mark of 61-feet 6 1/4 inches (18.75m). Sale also increases her already set WSU indoor freshman record in the process as well, and finished sixth overall in the event. The distance medley squad of
Stephanie Cho,
Zorana Grujic,
Jelena Grujic, and
Kaili Keefe posted the fourth best all-time result in the event in WSU history at 11:23.11, and placed fourth overall against MPSF competition as well.
Stephanie Cho turned in another top ten all-time performance for the Crimson and Gray as she ran a 54.16 in the 400-meter dash for the sixth best time in WSU history.
Sam Brixey claimed first overall in the 60-meter hurdles, with a time of 7.75 seconds in the finals.
RayRay Wells Jr. went on to secure another victory for the Cougars, this time in the 60-meter dash, as Wells posted a time of 6.55 seconds overall.
Mitch Jacobson turned in a top five performance in the high jump during the indoor conference meet, posting a jump of 6-feet 11-inches (2.11m) on the day.
Jacob Englar also posted a fifth place finish in the pole vault, as Jacob posted a PR of 17-feet 1 1/2 inches (5.22m) and soared into ninth all-time in Washington State history in the event as well.
Colton Johnsen was the top Cougar in the 3000-meter run, as Johnsen finished an impressive third overall with a time of 7:59.85. Â An additional top ten run came from
Reid Muller in the mile event, as Reid posted a PR of 4:02.42 for a seventh place finish.

The NCAA uses national descending order lists to determine the competitors for the 2020 Indoor Championships...these lists can be viewed at the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field Results Reporting System website (www.tfrrs.org)...the top 16 individuals and 12 relays will move on to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 13-14 at Albuquerque, New Mexico (University of New Mexico host)...best marks for the Cougars throughout the 2020 indoor season can be found at www.wsucougars.com.
