LAUREN BURCKEL TAKES SECOND IN THE 50 BREAST AT CSCAA'S
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Washington State traveled to Cleveland, Ohio to compete in the CSCAA National Invitational. The Cougars ended the day with five swims in the A Finals, with three of the five women finishing in the top five of their individual events.
The relay team of Chloe Larson, Payton Bokowy, Keiana Fountaine, and Emily Barrier started off the finals with a fourth place finish in the 200 Free Relay, 1:31.74, ending only .14 seconds back from their record they set during the Pac-12 Championships a couple weeks ago.
In the 50 Breast Lauren Burckel finished sixth overall in the prelims notching a time of 28.52, then came back in the finals shaving .32 seconds off her prelim time to take second overall in the competition.
Later, in the prelims Taylor McCoy and Mackenzie Duarte both qualified to swim in the A final at night. In the A final McCoy finished fourth overall with a time of 2:01.14 and Daurte finished seventh overall clocking in at 2:02.90.
In the final event of the morning prelims, the 50 free, Chloe Larson came out on top of the competition with the fastest time of the morning a 22.89. Keiana Fountaine held the eighth spot overall after the morning prelims with a time of 23.25. Both girls moved on to swim in the A final later that night, Larson finished fourth overall, and improved from her morning swim with a 22.85.
